The Wairoa District School, .accommodating over . 200 scholars,'-was burned; to the ground ,at 9.55.- o'clock last night. . Fanned by a furious: south-east gale, 'everything was 1 soon'burnt down, nothing : being left but: a few - sheets of ;ironi 1 :The, committee met there .at 7 o'clock, and all was."safe .then. The fire broke out in a: different room to that in-.which- the committee, sat,:namely, that of tho second master./ There had been a fire in tho grate in they<*fternoony but it, had . burned . out.
