MAMMITIS IN WELLINGTON COWS.
An extract from a Poverty Bay'ipaper re-' couth- stated that inammitis had'bqtn found by the Veterinary Division to .bo affecting ? R? r „? ent, of t]lo ™ H ' S supplying the milk of W Gllrngton. This is not correct. ' Wliat' is really tii6 ease is that 25 par cent, of tho (specimens of milk- sent to tho veterinary laboratory for examination . were infected. Most of the samples, of coursc,'. were from oows already showing outward signs of uddor disease or from' herds, already known to be infected. The groat bulk of the healthy milk
coming into Wellington was tliorefore. not included in the calculation. Although mammitis is unfortunately increasing, it is hoped that tie suppressive measures which th 6 farmers and tlie Veterinary Division arc now combining to take wiir soon stamp out the disease—extensively, at least, if not entirely. ,
