' : ' By the end of the present week it is expected that the two hillocks, in front of the college grounds will have 'been removed. AVith the new approach to the college completed the gang of men will lie transferred to expavation work/'at the back of the gymnasium./, /.■'■:< . ' . An effort is being made by tho Relief Committee to induce, tho Victoria College Council to have a start made, with the foundations for the proposed new wing'at the college, which-work would enable a number of unskilled labourers to be employed. ' The' gang which has just completed , its week on the Constable Street-Mount Victoria Road drew £56 los. 9d. in wages, an average of £2 3s. per. man for the week, as against an average of £1. lis. 3d. , per man for the previous week, in. which there was a lot of broken time. The tree-planters who. have spent the past week on Kolburno Park drew £14 lis. 3d. in wages. ; Completo arrangements have been' made for the public entertainment which is. to be held in the Town Hall on Mohday next. The orchestra of 45 instruments will ' lie conducted by Mr. Win. M'Laughlin.
