'An enjoyablo smoke concert was held by the Southern Football-Club' last night at Wm. , Noad's rooms, Cuba;Street.:;All the arrange- . ments were, well carried out, catering and other important matters being well looked to. In the'unavoidable absence of Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P., Mr. E. J. Fitzgibbon presided. ' ' Trophies and for, the best players in each; grade were presented; during the evening, as follow:—Beat player in senior team (medal donated by Mr. E. J.: Fitzgibbon), Mr. L. Campbell; best, player in junior- team, Mr. Johnson; best playpr in the fourth-class team (trophy donated by Mr. 3. B. Speed), Mr. Flannigailj best plftyer in fifth-class team (trophy presented by Mr.-W. B, Perrott), Mr. Geo. Gray.- A presentation was also'made to Mr. W. W. Campbell, , whose marriage lately took . : .place; : i y .'The; following tonste were honoured!—" The King.'' Union," proposed by Mr. D. J. .'Fitzgibbon, and .responded to by Mr. S.' Brown; "Rugby Football," .proposed by tho - chairman, and responded to .by the Bov. J. Walker; "Our Opponents," proposed by Mr. "Jack" Campbell, and responded to by Mr. A. Wilson; "Referees' Association," proposed by Mr. M. Hogan, and responded to by Mr. T. Quiiiri; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr.-A. H. Fullford; "Kindred Sports," proposed by Mr. Hi'Mortensen, and responded to, by .Mr. ! Heenan; and "The Press," projiosed by Mr. Mansden. . ..... ... -'Musical items were rendered by tho follow. K.
