The lecturer, who was Colonel Davis's galloper in the war, tookhis audience in . imagination overi the ground covered. by,tho contingents, from the operations of French around Colesberg to' tho occupation of including the march of French's relief column to Kiraberley, Roberts's advance on Bloemfohtein, Broadwood's march to Thabarichu, and subsequent engagement at Sanna's Post, lan Hamilton's engagements at Huit Nek and Welkam Farm, the occupation of Kroonstadt, and- the- march up the Vaal to Johannesburg.
