A fire at Bnrcaldine (360 miles west of Rockliampton) destroyed a whole'block of the main street, comprising four hotels and twelve shops. ; . v..'. There were osciting scenes, some of the residents escaping in their liight-elothos., The damage is estimated at £14,000.
