THE NAVY LEAGUE.
A meeting of the 'local Executive Committee of the Navy League, held'last night, was attended by Captain R. A. Edwin, R.N. (in the chair), Captain G. -T. Hall, and Messrs. J. B. Harcourt, D. M'Kellar, R. Darjoclj, E. J. Le Grove, arid C. W..Palmer. Great satisfaction was expressed ' at 'the formation by . the local secretary of fresh sub-branches of the league, .at the Girls' College (137 enrolled), and at Miss Baber's school (57 enrolled). It was decided- to approve the action of the secretary in supplying the college members with "Britain On and Beyonfl :fclie Sea." The secretary reported that, in connection with the visit of Captain Colomb, R.N., and the Encounter officers to Masterton, great interest had been aroused in the work of the leaguo in that town, and that the branch membership had bean largely increased. The secretary while at.' Masterton informed the members of a fresh school branch at the Lansdowno School. ... " It was reported, that "Naval Warfare," by Admiral Maltzahn (translated from the German by J. C. Miller), ordered at the in-, stieation of the, Navy League'by the" booksellers and the 1 Public' Library, was now available locally. The London authorities wrote stating that a large supply of Navy League annuals and other literature was aboard the. Corinthic. * • . - , . The Harbours' Association intimated tbat it intended 'to bring forward the suggestions of the league regarding night signalling' at lighthouses at the coming conference of the Harbour Boards in September. As regards the performance of "Jane" by the Mountebank Dramatic Club at the Opera House, his Excellency the Governor intimated that he would be pleased to give the season his patronage. It was intimated that college and school members of the league who had not already been supplied could obtain "concession * tickets at the league's public inquiry office.
