FIRM INDIAN POLICY.
| NEW UNDER-SECRETARY. TALKINC BUSINESS TO AGITATORS. REMOVAL, IF NECESSARY. (By Tolegtaph,—Press Association;—Oopyrleht.) London, August 8. The recently-appointed Under-Secretary for India, the Hon. A. W. Murray, lias warned Indian agitators of the Government's deliberate intention to maintain,order, and to remove them, if nocessary, from the sphere of activity/ SEDITION IN THE NATIVE STATES; Calcutta, August 8. Anglo-Indian newspapers ; strongly: commend Mr. Murray's declarations, and his firm attitude. Extremists have endeavoured to introduce a seditious propaganda, into tho Native States. ,The Maharajah of Gwalior is determined to crush the movement at the outset. Thirtyrfive agitators were arrested in Gwalior, and tried. Four were sentenced to seven years, and 28 to shorter terms of im-. prisonment. •
