Following .the meeting-held on July 21; a rejxirt, of ; .tho proceedings with tho resolutions.passed was forwarded to the College. Governors; with a request that they should receive a'deputation from-tho conference to. discuss the vexed question. The secretary of tho coramitteo (Mr. T. S. Lambert), received a reply from Mr, C. P. : Powjes'(secretory to the Board of Governor's), stating that the board was' rrepared to receive a deputation 1 at its. meeting the nest day (Fridny); Mr. Lambert states there was no time to arrange a{deputation, as he had only received the lettor at 4 p.m. on July 29, and tho mooting was to be held ; at, 11 o'clock tho following morning. This was'communicated to Mr, Powles, who appointed the next meeting day (August 30) as tho time at which tho board would bo prepared to listen to tho deputation. On August 4, Mr. Lambert hastened matters by waiting on the Minister for Education (Hon. G. Fowlds), and, as a result, tho Minister has consented to receive a deputation on Tuesday next at 4 p.m. In viow of this appointment, Mr. Lambert has invited all chairmen of committees to assemble at tho Education Board's offices nt 3 p.m. on that day to uiako arrangements for tho interview ■ before waiting on the Minister.
