THE EMPLOYERS AGAINST ITS USE. Iliy OrelterapU.-Pross Assiiclflilou.-OnDjfleht.i Melbourne, August 5. Tho Victorian Employers' Federation lias decidod to make every effort to prevent the use of a union badge. Tho Federation considers the badge is being introduced as a weapon of, boycott. ACfiON OF SYDNEY RETAILERS.. The Sydney Retailers' Association recently held a special meeting to consider the question of their assistants wearing the badge of the union whilst at work. Tho meeting was largely attended, and the following-resolution was Unanimously carried:—"That this association considers it unwise to allow party badges or colours to be used, shown, or displayed during business hours, and the members of this association pledge themselv6s to disallow the using, showing, Or displaying of union badgesi or dolours by employees while engaged in business." It appears that the meeting was unanimous on the main question that badges must uilt be worn. However, the majority wished to go further, and prerent badges from being exhibited in any way during business hours, ami heilce tho meeting made it clear in the resolu» tibn adopted that using meant keeping the badge in one's pocket and pulling it out quietly to show it to' some, person. Showing, on the other hand, meant having it fastened to same part of the ciptliing or placed in such a position that bv opening the' lapel of the coal, or in Some dtlief way, the badge would be eicpflsed to View; While displaying, on tho other handi m*ftnt having it fastened,SSa t to a watchehain, and allowing it to dangle in ffoni of titery person who came into the shop. The resolution is thus ffamed that no em« ployee.must show .his or_ her badgo in any Way whatever during working hours. l
