WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. ..Hockey matches were played at« Miramai yesterday' afternoon between Post and Telegraph and Hui Mai A (this ground being partlv nnder water), and and Hui Mai B. . '• ," POST AND TELEGRAPH (3) V. HUI MAI (1). Taking the state of the ground into consideration, this game may bo described ns fast and even. In the first spell Post and Telegraph .succeeded in shooting twa, goals— ono shot bv -Owens from a free-hit, and the )ther, by Craig from a scramble insido the circle. After resuming, Post and Telegraph, showing better combination, pressed. hard on the Ems, and Thompson (P. and T.) succeeded .n scoring. Then Hui Mai brightened.up and Hoy scored, the game ending without' further incident of note. The following played Well for Post and Telegraph:—Owens, Craig, Hollis, Thompson, M'Kay, and Griffiths.. For. Hui Mai, Kuch, Clementson,, Arthur, and Hunter were abont the most conspicuous. Mr. Cusack ,vas referee. ARTILLERY A ffl V. KARORI (1). ' ' Artillery A defeated Knrori on a.very muddy ground at, Knrori. The game was .vigorous, but slow. In the first spell Karori scored a gbal from a penalty corner, Atkin taking the shot,, and it looked at half-time as if the suburban team Were going to N win. Tho tables I were turned in tho second spell, however, and Artillery secured 4 goals through the agency of James (2), Cooper, and May. Roughness on both. Bides ended in a player from each team being ordered off the field, and two others being cautioned. ; Mr. Sherwood was referee. - ' PAKEHA (3) V: PETONE A (1). •A good game of hockey was played between Pakeha and Petone A at Petone yesterday, the local team losing by 2 goals. Tho ground was I very wet and slippery, and did not afford much i footing. Haase-(Pakeha) scored the only goal during the first' half. In tho second halfMnckiiy and Harrop scored 'duo each for Pakeha, and T. Donovan scored for Petone. Mr. Carver was.referee. . ; v ■ \v\\ Y.M.C.A; (5) V. HUI MAI B (2), • Y.M.C.A. met Hui Mai B at Miramav on a slippery ground, and the' former had the better of the game throughout. The following played well for Y.M.C.'A.:—Tear, Cooper, Tooby, and \ Johnstone. Lippett played vroll for Hui Mai. i Scorers; for YiM.C;A. ; were:—Cooper- (3) and j Shipton.(2); for Hui MaikLippett (1) and John- , stone (1). Mr. J. Taylor'was-referee. . j
