Arthur Chambers, barman at, tho White Hart Hotel, was to-day fined £5 by Mr. Ha6olden, S.M., for supplying drink to a man already intoxicated. The Magistrate said ho was quite convinced that the man was.drunk-when supplied—so drunk.fhat he ,- had not.recovered from the effects next day, and ho must have beeii palpably drunk in the hotel. "I can only regret,'-', said - Mr. Haselden, ''that so many person's reconciled it with their consciences to swear the con--trary. It would bo quite legal to convict tile licensee for selling through iiis agent, but in this case it would bo unjust to do so., I bolievo that Lane, the licensee,, knew nothing about the supply to this man, who' was supplied in contravention of Laiio's orders to Chambers."
