.IMPENDING CHANGES. -V ■ j.: Several matters affecting the Fire Brigade wero dealt with at Thursday's meeting of tlio Council. The Fire Brigade: Committee recommended -as follows :—: - .. That tlio firfe alarm system be'extended'to the following localities,: with the addition of the top of Nairn Street, at a cost of £202, provided, for' in this year's eistimatesj as recommended Vby the bupcj'intendent of; tlio Fire Brigade:—Aro Street: One call point, corner; Oliini' Koad and Maarauia Crescent; ono'call point, Aro Street, near. Holloway Road; Kclburno: one call point, corner Salamanca Road and Kclburno Parade; ono call point,' corner Glasgow Torrace and Upland lload; olio call point; corner Upland and Bouiulary'Roadsi- Island Bay: one call point, comer the l'arade and Tamar Street ; ono call point corner the Parade and Mersey Street;- ono call• point, 'corner the. Parade and Reef Street.. Brooklyn: One call point, Ohiro Valley Road, near Tancra .Crescent; one call point, corner Cleveland aiid Hamson Streets. , Botanical Road: One call point, corner Talavera Terraco snd Botanical Road; one call point,-corner Wesloy Roild allq Bolton Street. ' Summary ~ of . expenditure for extensions is as'under:—Aro Street, £40; Kelburne, £G0; Island Bay, £58; Brooklyn, £4i3; Botanical Road, £53; total, £262. A further.- recommendation this passed- that a telephono switchboard; with 20 shutters costing £23 2s. . 6c1., bo purchased for the: central -station,.and that the switchboard at present in the cenpral station bo shifted to Newtown, arid thb one at Nowtown to Kilbirnie, and tho new, one ordered for Kilbirnio bo installed at tliG central station.
