IS STOCK SCARCE?
Throughout the Motu district, and right through to Opotiki, there is a shortage of stock at tho present time, said Mr. W. D. S. MaeDonalu, Mi'., to a "I'ovcrty Bay Herald" representative. This situation, he considered, had resulted from the abnormal slaughtering season that had just concluded. Tempted by a splendid fattening season, and in many instances the state of their hanking •account, farmers)'he thought, had been inclined to rush too much stock-; through tho freezing works. The result how was that farthers were unablo to obtain sufficient-store stock; grass was plentiful, and in some instances turnip crops'were lying uneaten. The irony of it all was .that • storo stock we/e now bringing better prices than freezers.
