. The Maranui Social Club hfeld its Mst' dobat- ; ing evening in the Hail on Thursday last.,' Therd was a full attendance,of''members. The subject of debate tfas "Is physical sport conducive to the development of,the present generation?" which' was argued in, the affirmative by Afr. S. Lambert, 1 who in a vigorous speech upheld tho cause of sport. The negative was taken by Mn W. S. Bruce. In continuing tho debate, which was keenly contested; the'followiug members took part:—Messrs; M'Lauchlan,' Harrison, Sinclair,' Stanford, Raven, Clater, and Robertson. On the vote the negative won by a small majority. Seven new membors were added to the cluh. ; . •-
