DAIRY ITEMS.

To tjle Editor.

; Sir,—Under the " above ' heading, in your issue of the 27th, I noticp a report to tho effect that the. Wahgariui Dairy Company arc the proprietors of-a butter factory at Okoia. This is an error, as the only butter factory at Okoia is owned 1 by my own firm, Messrs. J,., Buchanan and Co.' r Your' correspondent; in his reference to the Fresh Food and Ico Company, has also .got a long way astray. ' It is well known that that company'have not got a pasteurising plant at.their works, and the only pasteurised butifer on the local market is that made by ourselves. Your correspondent may have been led into this error through not knowing that up to a short time back the milk business, known as tho Wauganui Fresh Food and Ice Company, was owned by ourselves, and the pasteurised butter that has so long .been favourably .known here, is tho "Greon: Meadows" brand, which has been made by us at our butter factory at Okoia. A short time back there ' appeared in The Dominion a report of a case, Andrews and Manthel v. J.'Buchanan and the Fresh. Food and Ico Company, in- which it was stated that I had sold out my -interest in tho butter factory at Okoia to the Fresh Food and Ico Company. I wish to give this an.omphatic denial. What I sold to them was the milk run in Wanganui, not tho butter factory at. Okoia. I shall bo pleasod if you will insert this at an early dato, as I find quite a number of your readers think I have sold out at Okoia, which is not correct.—l am, etc.,, '■••■ JOHN BUCHANAN. Okoia,. July. 29,- 1909. ; ;.',
