The marines, playing from the eastern end, kicked off against the' wind, aid tie sailors appeared- to hayo the' upper hand during, the first half of the game; and had a good chance of winning, but Mead (goalkeeper for marines) stopped,some good shots. Eventually, however, a splendid shot by Bates (sailors) drew "first blood." On changing ends, the .marines at.'once invaded the seamen's, territory, and Meiizies (marines) sent in a 'very ;hot shot,; which went just' undor the bar.
