(chairman), and Messrs.' A. Smith, R. C. Kirk, George' Nash, G.;London, J., W. MTiiwan, J. Danks, and J..,Rod.< : .\. The statement of receipts and'• expenditure for. the, period July 13July. 20- showed that tho receipts exceeded the expenditure by >£1143 195." '5d., the total figures being :—Receipts, ,£2145 Bs. Id.; expenditure,'-.£lool Bs. Sd. The. financial returns under the. headings of. rents,, outpatients, and inpatients' showed that' tho receipts, .compared with those "of. the previous fortnight (in parentheses) : woro as follow:— Rents, .£ll3 12s. Gd. (.£3lO lis. Gd.); outpatients, ,£W 18s: (,£l2 12s. Gd.); inpatients, .£IBO 2s.' sd. (,£l2O Us. 6d.); wages, 3s. 9d. (£lB6 9s. 7d.).
Tho following recommendations of..the, House Committco were, adopted:—That Nurse Anderson's resignation bo accepted, and that Nurses Beck and James be appointed Sisters; that the question of sick nay a'nd leave for nurses and maids be referred to Dr. Hardwick Smith for report; that the rules as amended "bo printed/and that a proof bo' forwarded to Dr. Valintino for approval before\ being circulated; that the ; action of the house steward in -erecting" a i breakwind fence at Reddon shelters be approved and an additional fence bo placed as required; that asphalt bo-used for the base-, nient floor-in new. workshops)'that the namesof donors be inscribed on, cots, and .that the name be inscribed oh Goodfellow's cot.". .
The return of patients for tho period was as follows-.—General Hospital, 76 males and 80 females, a total of 150, as against 205 in the corresponding period of last year; Victoria Hospital, 19 mates and 18 females; Seddon Hospital, 14 males, and' 6 - females; grand total, 213, as against 267 for, the same period of the previous year. ", . .
A letter was received from Mrs. J. Rankind Brown, stating that at the last meeting of the Wellington branch of the Victoria League it was unanimously decided to maintain a children's cot at the Wellington Hospital for a period of two years, at .£25 per annum. The chairman remarked that the offer was very gratifying indeed, and should ■ be accepted in terms of-a resolution passed by the board affording facilities for the endowments of cots from year- to year, at an annual cost of JJ2S for ohildren and .£SO for adults, those providing tho endowments to make such, arrangements as regards nominations for patients as would keep the cots regularly occupied.. It was resolved to thank, tho donors for their generous offer.. ' "■■';:■
