A COLLISION.' ... ■'~.. -On Monday afternoon a young man named Edward Haugkey had the misfortune to collide with a b'orse and cart, whilst cycling round Susses Square. As ; he'was turning' tho corner of the square he'met a cart and a cemont float, and •ho hesitated: for a-mo-ment'before' deciding to take .the.:off.y.sido. His hesitation caused his fall, fori in- endeavouring to. pass on the: off side he'struck 1 tho hoad of the horso attached to the cart.--He was picked up by Dr. M'Donald, who conveyed him to his borne, where ho was 1 attended to by Dr. Mackiri. Ho -had sustained a severe shaking, but no serious injury. • ' /.' -FALL FROM A BUILDLNG. • A young carpenter named Daniel Barltrop yestej-day met with an • accident at; tho building, ; which is being erected by Messrs. Campbell and Burke, at the corner of Willis and Mercer Streets, for Messrs. Fredorick Cooper, Limited.- A. slip of the. foot ■ caused him to fall between some of the joists of two floors, and he received rather serious injuries to his head and shoulders,.in addition' to a severe shaking. Ho was attended to by Dr. ;M'Evedy, and then removed to the hospital, ..where it was found'.that.,he.had, sustained!.aJractu're of the skull. ;' A DEATH ON THE TONGARIRO;' ' A" death-occurred aboard the :: R.M.S. Tongarjro. on the voyage froiri'-Londdn ■' to Wellington. While the vessel was in the Southern Ocean, Mr. iD. M. Niven'j a-second saloon passenger, had an apoplectic seizure, and expired a few minutes before noon. on July 21. He was buried, at sea.tie.following morning.
