A comnuttco was formed, 1 and it was decided to canvass the district to find out tvliat support would bo forthcoming in tho event of a company being formed Thero was a. very large attendance of etudents and visitors at Mr. Ernest Short's farm on SinoUir's Line, Waituna, yesterday, when representative farmers, from a radius of 40 miles, round, accepted an invitation to witness tho students at worlcin wool-class-ing. Some 45 students wero at work, undor the direction of the instructor of the Foilding Technical School (Mr. Chhill). Mr. Short also gave a demonstration of quality in sheep, using his on n" bred and imported animals as illustrations Mr Goo. Wheeler, of Stanway, gave an interesting addresi on tho history or the Ramney sheep in Now Zealand. Luncheon and afternoon tea wore provided. In the course of a short .speech; Mr. Fred. Pirani (chairman of the Wanganui Education Board) said that it was strange that his board had had to inaugurate the instruction m dairying, agriculture, and wooli classing. These things were essentially the work of A and P. Associations, but it was in our schools that the initiative had been given. Complimentary references were/made t during the proceedings to tho part played by Mr Short, who had be'en a main factor i in developing tbe wool-classing classes. LEVIN. Tho committee of the ladies' auxiliary of the Y M C A. are making another appeal to tho residents of Levin and district for parcels of left-off clothing, bootsj lete , for those in need of suoh, both in their own town and m Wellington.' ' In tho Horowhenua Rugby Union senior championship on Saturday, Levin Wanderers beat Kia Toa (Otaki) at Levin by 17 points /to nil; while in the juniors Kia Toa beat Keroru by 3 points te nil, and Waikanao beat Levm Wanderer* bj 11 points to 8 ' A large niimber of joung men attended , ' the Y.M CA. "free-and-easy" on Saturday night. Tho Rev S G. Complon, the new vicar of St Mary's, was welcomed by Mr. F. E. Parker, the geneial secretary Mr. Compton gavo a brief but bright address, commending the association for promoting such gatherings. Hβ also contnbuted a recitation, which was exceedingly well rendered. Songs were given by Messrs. Morticehead, L Nation, D. Anderson, and R H Anderson; recitations by Messrs. T. G Vincent, Morris, and Fry; a reading by Mr S. Goldsmith, and "supper witticisms" by Mr. A Grover. Supper was provided by Mes- / dames J. Prouso and J. Wood.
