To gain some idea of the work, aPojnmoN reporter waited on Mr. O, 1 , . oontradtor, who.afforded the fullest information as-to tlio nature and extent of-tihe work about to bo commenced, llio present training- wall ends about 100 yards (approximately) to the north of too now King's, Wharf. That wall is now to bo continued due north in tihe present lino for 374 feet, when it turns in towards Kaiwarra, pursuing & straight line for no less a distance than 928 feet. This carries tlhe wall to i a point aliont half-way between, Pdpitea Point and. tho Thomdom Baths, at a distance ofabout 680 feet furtW , out in. the harbour. The greatest .'depth, is at-'the angle of the extension, where tiere is 27 feet of water at. low tide. Aβ the-wall gets further into tho Kawarra Bight (off the . southorn end at ,Thonidon Esplanade) the water gradually sb.allo.wß to about 20 feet in places, so- that t/lib construction'of the wall presents no especial ; difficulties.
