ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
TWO DRIVERS INJURED. A traction engine caused trouble on tho Kilbirnie hill yesterday morning. The horse attached to a Chinaman's cart shied . and upset the dray, which pinned tho driver, Ngan San, to tho,ground. Thejmurcd man, who is 40yoars of age, and resides at Kilbirnie, was brought into the hospital without delay. ■ He is injured across tho back,' and'is in a somewhat serious condition. A lad; named John 'Bassett, of Maranui, also mot the engine, - with a fractious' horse. He was badly knocked about, and was admitted , to tho hospital at' about 1 p.m., suffering from' concussion oitho brain. ■• ",. ■ Mr. G. E.'Philips, a: married man residing in Todman Street,. Brooklyn, whilst returning from, a visit, to friends at Kilbirnie'last evening, missed the last- car' to- tbwji. Ho walked through l tho tunnel;,and -.when aboiit half-way through;• slipped on. the rail, and brokehis anklo. He was .attended to by Dr. Maekin, ivh'o ordered-his removal to tho hoopital.
