' The revenue , for the year amounted to £355 9s. lid., being £62,185.\5d. -in'excess of.tho revenue; received for 1007-1908. The expenditure,-inclusive-'of- payments on ..' ac- , count . pf' the previous year,. costs incidental to .the 'of new-: property, : . and the increased ■ interests and rate/charges entailed thereby : ainounted r to-£399'95., Which is £75 15s. 7d.. in excess of,that:for 1907-1908. The debit .balance. which:"in 1907-1908 stood, at £75 10s. lOd.shos now been reduced to. £59. 7e.' lid., against which there is a sum of £11 18s. 10d. cash.in hand, plus £40 9s. 6d.' good for subscriptions and fees outstanding. Your committee has, under the authority conferred ;by the special general meeting, acquired on; behalf of the club the whole of the' land adjoining the' club's property fronting Myrtle Street'for tho sum ot £730. To finance the .matter, --£200 'was , borrowed on second mortgage on the club's property,-and the balance; ■ £530,' k 1 : secured by mortgage over the property' purchased. The policy of acquiring thelandin question is one which, we feel sure, is •Mnimended by all members'i ■■; It 'ia proposed to retain, sufficient area | to provide increased playing, accommodation, to increase 'the' width; of entrance' .to. the grounds to 25 feet and offer the balance, •fronting Myrtle: Street,- for sale; The-sec-ond contest for the, Duthie Cup was held this year on tho Wanganui Green, and your | representativesy under.'Messrs. 0. Stevens and: W. : Hendry, successfully retained tlheir title.to possession of eame for another year. The next contest will take-place on the club's green. • The club was well represented at the bowling tournaments inaugurated by the Wellington Bowling Centre, the institution of which is appreciated by' members. The contest /.'that- evoked the most enthusiasm was : the -three-match game- against I the, Petorie Club for/ the possession of the handsome ./cup : donated .by Dr. Ross and Mr. 0. Steven's for annual competition tween chibs. Apart from-the ' interest displayed by- the tennis player's-.who represented ::tho club inr the junior'' tennis' contest, your committee ■ regret there was, a decided falliiig-off in the attendance and enthusiasm of some of the other players as compared with the previous year. That tho players engaged in the competition had reaped advantage therefrom was manifest by. the -success attending their efforts, at the various tennis tournaments. at' which they competed. The following club competitions were played during the season:—Junior singles, won by B. Ollerhshaw; president's medal, won by B. Ollernshaw: club championship, won by Gt./Cudby; ladies' handicap singles, won by Miss G. ''Poster:' men's handicap singles, won by C. A. Mirams. The membership now stands at 153, viz., 76 bowlere and .77 tennis players. The resignations for the year numbofed-39, and 35 new members were elected. Under.the capable supervision of the Ground Committee and the careful attention of tho. caretaker, Sir. C. Edwards, the green and courts were-in excellent .playing order for the. whole of the season.. Thanks aro duo to the following:— The president, Mr. H. J:' H. Eliqtt, for gold medal.
