Tho causo of the collapse of tho railway bndgo and the partial derailment of the 1 Rama mail tram, killing two people and injuring eighteen, remains unexplained. Investigation shows that the carriage following tho ongme left the rails three chains before reaching tlie bridge Tho engino and tender ciossed safely, but tho carnages toppled over. Tho driver showed great presence of mind in pulling up smartly. The overturned car riages at the bridge were completely wrecked. Tho eighty passengers on the train in. eluded tho members of Her Majesty's Moving Theatre, whoso property camo in. useful .a rescuing imprisoned passengers and accommodating tho wounded. Reeves, and Maokio wore killed by bein,-; partly projected tluough ,the windowe and then dragged along. Many miraculous escapes are reported, A man and a little girl were thiown through tho windows uninjured In several cases wreckage had to bo chopped away,in order to extricate persons from among the debris. Others were hauled through tho windows of tho overturned carriages. The injured are doing well.
