A very quiet wedding was solemnised on Saturday, July 17, at the residenco of the bride's mother, Newtown, when Mr. Arthur Ambrose Mercer was married to. Miss K. -Laing-Meason arrived from Sydney this week, and went on . the same night to .. Canterbury -to ' spend some weeks with ■Mrs. ;M. Studholme, of Timaru. Miss LaingMeason has been in Australia for more than , a year, and has accompanied her sister, Miss Mary Laing-Meason,. who is with Bland Holt's Company, oil most of her travels, spending the' past few months in Sydney. Mrs. 'Laing-Meason is in London; where she ha§ recently joined the Athenaeum Club. She has finished several plays, and these are now being submitted for "approval, but she does not expect to hear anything definite about them for some little time. ,
