The shortago was again in evidence, on Tuesday, and resulted in. a delay.to several of the Union Company's steamers. Of the colliers in port, the only one to get-away was the Kurow, which had been in port for five days, including Sunday. After, having delivered 850 tons of coal to H.M.S. Encounter in the stream, the Kaituna had : a ■ similar ' auantity to discharge' at the wharf, but was compelled to lie idle at the Taranaki Street Wharf, since it was useless to take her round to tho Railway Wharf, where no trncke were available. The Waitemata i and tho Poherua were also delayed.' HANGAPAPA ASHORE AT KAEAHEA., On Tuesday afternoon, Mr. W. E, Morris, act-ing-secretary of tha Post and Telegraph Department, received telegraphic advice from the ohief postmaster at Westport, stating that the steamer Maneapapa had gono ashore, at the South Spit, as she was leaving Karamea Harbour. In addition td a cargo of timber, the vessel is bringing soveral passengers, including four ladies,'to Wellington. The telegram stated .that tho bar was rough and the weather threatening; but a lator message stated that it was expeclod that the passengers and mails wonld be landed the game afternoon. Corroborative advice was rc< ceived by tho Marine Department from the harbourmaster at Karainca..
The Mangapapa is a vessel of 134 tons, under the command of Captain Fletcher. She is owned by tho Kararaea Steamship .
