'''■ In fine golfing weather the annual thirtysix holes stroke competition, for the professional championship of Wales took place at Rhyl. A. Matthews, of Rhyl, with two rounds of 69 and a total of 138, won the championship. In the morning round he went out,in 35 and came home in 34, thus beating.his,own.record for .the course 5 by one stroke. But for missing a putt on the last green in the afternoon he would have completed the. round in 63. His performance of 69 for each round was ■ indeed remarkable. Fred Collins, of Llandudno, with rounds of 76 and 77, total 153, finished second; and P. Rainford, of Llangammarch.Wells, with 79' and 77, total 156, was third. The Army Cup golf tournament has been won -by. the Black Watch. Swimming., Oxford University Swimming Club defeated the; Otter S.C. by three events to : two. , W. A. Bailey made a good start for the 'Varsity by defeating the-international,, T. K. Tarkatover, by" a foot, after an exciting finish. Tar-' katover, however, won the ninety yards .race, and'the Otter , also took quarter-mile race by the aid of P.. K. Cup first match has been completed by the inclusion- of Mr.; C.-D. Miller as back,'a' position it was expected that Mr. W. S.
