; .'.A, congress of great importance l was opened in London yesterday, when nurses from all parts of the world met for pracsaid 'The Queen,' in June, 'vbgkqjvbgkqjz tical: consultation. :-"Just ten years ago," said "The Queenl'-.in June, v : "there'■= was founded in London the International Council of Nurses^which sought to band, together the nurses of all nations in a confederation of workers, to-further,, the efficient care of the ' sick,rand to,secure .the honour:and the. interests of the .nursing profession; On July 19 next; this council will .'meet at., the Caxton Hall, - Westminster; 'to : report •'■' progress— ; indeed, .has been ''phenomenal .—and to 'receive reports from many countries upon' questions relating to the welfare of the sick arid of the nursing profession. A.strong contingent.is expected-from Swe'den, whore a committee has been formed, under the patronage' of the Queen 'Dowager of. Sweden, representing the different nursr ing institutions!V Miss Therese Tamm, representing the Sophia Home at Stockholm, \4 the officially-appointed leader of the Swedish delegates, who will number thirty-seven, thirty-two being members either of the So-, phia Home or of the Red Cross Society/ Following the'business meeting-of the Ingress of nushrdl shrd shrd sbrdlu shrdlud ternational. Council an international congress of nurses and nursing exhibition, organised, by the hostess council of-this:coun-try, will be held at the Caxton Hall on July 20, "21, 22, and ,23, in which distinguished nurses of many. nations and others' will; take part.' ; : A special feature of the nursing, exhibition will be the sections organised entirely by. nurses and illustrative, of their work. Arrangements are being made to ensure a thoroughly hospitable welcome to the foreign guests, and the members of the Intrnational Council and the fraternal delegates will be received • at the Mansion House by the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress. H'bere will also^be'a banquet at the Gaiety Bestaurant, at which Lord Ampthill, president of the Colonial Nursing Association, will preside. ■.'.■■
