HOSPITAL BOARD.

A NEW SHELTER FOR OTAKI SANATORIUM.

A meeting of tho Wellington District Hospital Board was hold yesterday morning, Mr. Jas. Godbcr presiding. Thoro were also pixy sent: Messrs. 11. C. Kirk, J. Smith, C. J. Crawford, and J. W. M'Ewau. Tho report of tho matron of tbo Otaki Hospital stated that, during Juuo, sixteen patients woro admitted, ami sovontoen discharged. Thoro are now six males and four females under treatment. Eight operations under nnacsthetics took placo during tho month. Dr. Faulko paid I two special visits to tho. Hospital and performed three operations.

Tho j report of tho matron of tho Otaki Sanatorium stated that during Juno 3 patients woro admitted, and 3 discharged. Thoro are now.ll mon and 15 women under treatment. 1

Tho ovorsoor at tho Otaki Sanatorium reported that tho principal work dono during tho month, had boon tho excavating and propagation of tho sito for .the nurses' cottage, and putting in conoroto- pilos for tho samo. Tho cotfogo is now ready for tho contractor to start* work. At present ploughing and levelling is in progress in front of tho'Sanatorium. • . i

If Mr. L'uke had been able to attend the meeting, he would havo put forward a recommendation to that effect. The cost should bo from £150 to, £200.. Tho general' opinion of members was that tho work was a very necessary one. \

Mr. Kirk'added that £300 had beon practically given for, work of' this sort, and' for the endowment of a' bed. Tho latter work only jnvolvod tho cost of placing a brass plate over the' head of a bed, so .that thero was plenty of monoy in hand for the other purpose. . The rccommondation that the shelter should be erected was unanimously agreed toi- Tho engineer was authorised to commence excavating right away, and to engage a foreman.'
