Ho pointed out that between the Freo Churches, by such agencies as' the Freo 'Church' Council, the need for,union and co-operation had already been recognised and tliprn was absolutely no reason nhv tho Chur-h of England should continue in its present state of isolation The real differences betneon the Church of England arid the Nonconformist Churches were disciplinary and not doctrinal He would not say the difference , ; between the High Churchmen and the Nonconformist Churches were merely disciplinarv, but the High Churchman was not the Church of England he was merely tolerated in that Church There was really nothing to prevent the Church of England from joining m the closest and continual union with the Nonconformist Churches. There:,was .no) reason why they should not associate in a]] sacred and religious things, no reason why they should not share in the services of their respective churches, no reason why they should not come together in prayer and in the common uso of the sacrament What lay between them was not the principles of the Church, but some spurious and bastard hindrances which had grown up
