It had been suggested that the speaker, as secretary of. tho Solway Syndicate, was interested' in pushing the sale of the , Solway site. But the secretaryship was purely honorary, and arose through tho negotiations in connection with tho acquisition of the showgrounds. Personally, he was to get no commission at all. . ■ .' ■ - The motion affirming tho need of a combined saloj-ard was. carried -unanimously.' '. . Mr. D. M'Gregor, sen., moved that, in the opinion of the farmers of this district, Solway should bo selected as a.site for a united saleyards. Tho same arguments applied, and with greater force, to Sohray as a salo si to, as were used in favour of Solway as a show site. It stood pre-eminent as a saleyards site. (Applauso.) . . •':■■•' . ' ■ Mr. W. H. Kummcr seconded the motion. Mr. Jos. Morris said that Mr. Percy and himself had soon Mr. Gosnell, who owned 15 acres of Government leasehold, next the old .hospital, whero sales wbro previously held, and that gentleman had expressed his willingness to give tho si to for a sakyards. Then again tho Dixon Street showgrounds, would possibly, bo available for ualeyards.
