YESTERDAY; MORNING,

Not a-great deal of fast work was done at Trentham yesterday morning, but, as a number-of horses jumped tho big country, the ; .work, was interesting. . The outside of tho course proper was open for fast work, and the going was on tho heavy sids. The morning was dull but line. Noariy all tho stceplochaso candidates wore on the course, and useful work was accomplished by them. Tilson. with T. Pritohard in the saddle, was tho first to be sent over tho steoplochaso jumps. Ho negotiated all the fences safely, but there was. nothing impressive about his display. Lo Beau (Pinker), Irish (Cochrane), Capitol (Deoblo), ahd-To Arai (Porter) then lined up to taoklo tho fonces in company. Each got over nil the fonces, but Lo Beau gave tho best jumping display, gaining on Irish at every fence. Capitol and To Arai, who raced just behind the other pair, were a trifle disappointing; Lingo™ , (Flynn) had Defeat (Lyford)for a companion.
