A TRAMWAY BOARD'S LIABILITIES.
i' - ; » TWO OASES FOR DAMAGES. (By Teleßranh.-Presa'Aeaoclatloii.) ' ' Chrtetchurch, July 19. . Mr. Haselden, S.M., this morning gave judgment for the Tramway Board in iwb cases in which the, board was sued for damages. Dalgety and Co. sued for £8 l≥ 9. for loss of sheep .killed on the tramway line at Sockburn, ' a car haying run into a flock. - Mr. Haselden said that the drover had not taken reasonable precautions to avert tho accident. Another claimant named Fairthorne sued the board for £50 damages incurred by collision'with tho board's sprinkler at the junction of two streets. Mr. Haselden found that tho sprinklor was travelling at an excessive speed, and that the driver did not -oxerciee Hue care, but, on the other band, ho was of opinion that plaintiff was intoxicated, but for which ho could have avoided tho accident. If he wero not intoxicated ho was guilty to a still higher degree df contributory negligence. As tho driver was not without blame, he would award BOi costs.
