IREDTJOED CHARGES. r (By Telegraph-Press Association -Copyrlcht.) Melbourne, July 16, The Federal Government cabled to the Pacific Board, stating tbat it was unable to roduco the land charges on press messages to a halfpenny a word, as suggested, but would reduce them to a penny a word. Wakapuaka, July 16. The Superintendent of the Eastern Extension Company here received tliis morning confirmation of the 1 eduction of press cable rates. The. company onlv waits for the Governments interested to indicate their share of the reduction to bring the cheaper rate into force.
