A public mooting of Johnsonville ratepayers waa held on Thursday evomng to consider the lighting proposals, Town Hall and other matters of interest to the district Tho chair was occupied by Mr. John Rod, chairman of tho Town Board, who proposed that the Town Board's proposal to grant a concession to Norman Heath and Go. te light tho township with electricity be confirmed, and submitted te u poll of ratepayers. An amendment that threo separate issues bo submitted to the ratepayers was lost, and tho motion wns carried. It was also proposed that steps be taken to raise a sum of money for tho orection of a town hall on the Johnsonvillo School Trust site. Mr. F. T. Mooro moved an amendment that ti»> Johnsonvillo Town Board as trustees for this site should obtain statutory, powers to borrow from tho Public Trustee a sum of monoy for tho erection of such a building. Mr. George Manson seconded the amendment, which was carried It was decided to urge tho Government to proceed with tho erection of the new railway station, for which work money hao been authorised. It was pointed out that tho work'would give employment to tho workless, and meet an urgent need of tho district.
