MEETING OP THE SOCIETY
Tho fortnightly meeting of the Committee of tho (Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held on Tuesday, theic being present: Mr. J. S. Jameson (in tlio chair), Slosdamos Christie and Kcrnot, and Messrs, Brown, H, Cook, J. Ilott. W. Watson, and Rev. Messrs. W. J. Williams and J. Rood Glasdon. Receipt of the following donations to 'the funds of the society wero acknowledged .-—Messrs. Stewart, Dawson and Co., £1 Is.; Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operativo Association, 10s. 6cf.; Miss Callender, Messrs. C. E. Galway, F. do J. Clere, and "N.Z. Times" Co., 10s. each—£2; Messrs. L. G. Reid, T. R. Boyes, L. W. Ludwig, T. Ballingcr and Co., A. H. Turnbull, T. A, Wolls, P. V. Waters, A. V. Knapp, \V. and J. Staples, ss. each—£2 55.: Lady Atkinson, Mesdames M. Kennedy and Rabo, ss. each—lss. j Mis. Chatfiold, Mr. J. Hopkirk, and "A.E.," 2s. 6d. each—7s. 6d.; total, £6 19s. The society's .inspector reported upon the results of his investigations icspecting a number of cases of alleged illtreatment and neglect of animals, and in several instances of alleged ilagrant' cruelty ho was 1 authorised to institute proceedings.
