EASTBOURNE DRAMATIC SOCIETY.
A: well-attended ahd ■ successful meeting, of the Eastbourne Amateur Dramatic Society was held at the residence of Mri-W. F. Shortt, Mnritai, on Tuesday. Mr. W. P. Shortt took the. chair.; .- A message was received from. the president, • Mr. : A. L. Herdmijn, -M.P.; regretting his inability to : attend. ,-. The following vice-presidents were present;': The, Mayor; of Eastbourne, Messrs. S. Ross, J; D.. Avery, and Sanson. Several Jnew members were' elected. The rules of the society' were adopted, and great thanks'are due to Mr. J. D. Avery, for his kindly assistance and'advice. The 6tage. manager, Mr.;P. St.'J. Keenan, reported that two pla'ys were now being rehearsed, and he -hoped to stage thein'about the end of August. It was stated that Mr.- Zohrab,' manager for the Steam .Ferry : Cb.,'had, called for prices for altering the stago of;the Day;s Bay Pavilion, making it adaptable for any class of performance,, and 6uitablo to the requirements of 'the society.-- The,'secretary, Mr. W.
