No scheme has, as yet, been placed before them. At tho Hutt preparations are under way for tree-planting by tho pupils of tho local school, while at I'ahiatua, the ceremonial opening of tho new school by tho. Minister for Education will probably result in some : demonstration of tree-plant-ing being arranged for the scholars. A box of seedlings of native plants has boon received from Mr. D. M'Grcgor by the Mayor, who recently intimated a desiro to establish a section for New Zealand plants at tho Holanical Gardens.. Another gentleman has auto offered to contributor a. supply of Notv Zealand plants towards the ccbemc, and a .citizen ha/; intimated hi* intention of offering 250 treca for planting. Arrangements arc in train for tho fitting celebration of Arbor Day, ami-the Mavor (Dr, Newman) states that t)m school children will bo invited.to plant a number of trees, probably on Mount Victoria; Councillor Luke, chairman of the Reserves Committee of the City Council, and the school children of the district will plant a number of, trees at Jsland Day. Tho Government is supplying 600 tfjtara trees.

A, special committco of'tho Feilding High School Committee has inspected tho school grounds and formulated plans for, beautifying them by planting trees, and brightening up tho plots. The Lytton Street (Feilding) School Committco has also arrangements m hand. ': r . •'' ■ -.'
