THE CONCLUDING BUSINESS. MISSION OF HELP. DISPOSAL OF CHUBCH PROPERTIES. Tho outstanding matter dealt with by the Anglican Synod yesterday was the motion of the Rev. C. C. Harper on religious instruc-tion-in schools. A new scheme of campaign was agreed upon, taftor an interesting discussion, which occupied tho whole of the afternoon sitting, and which is reported in another column. In the evening greetings were read from the Wellington Presbytery, in torms of the resolution published under the Presbytery report. Tho Bishop wae requested to send a reply to the greetings. ' 'I INSURING THE CLERGY. I Tho scheme for insuring tho clergy against accident or death by accident was further considered in committee. After' considerable discussion, it was agreed :—"That' this Synod approves tho principle of insuring tho clergy against accident, and whilo recognising with gratitude tho work that has been done, request the Standing Committee to go once more into the matter with a view, if possible, of including insurance against sickness, tho committeo to have power to act." SELF GOVERNMENT. Mr. ■ G. Shirtcliffe moved -.—"That the iresolution, of Synod dealing with tho self government of the Church in New Zealand, passed on July 8, be communicated to the several diocesan synods of the Dominion, with a recommendation from this Synod that it be considered, so that members of tho General Synod may have the advantage of an expression of opinion from each diocesan synod." - THE PENSION FUND. The Rev. A. W. H. Compton's Bill to amend the Pensions Act, so as to extend the benefits of y the fund to three clergymen holding seholas'tic positions, was put through its final stages. 'me Pension Fund Trustees were authorised to postpone actuarial investigation of the fund till 1911. VESTRY MEETINGS. On the motion of Mr. R. Wilberfoss (St. Peter's),'it was decided to ask the General Synod to amend a clause in the canons to .provide that in the absence of the vicar of a I parish tho churchwarden should . preside at vestry meetings instead of the clerical locum tenens. ' ' HOME MISSION COMMITTEE. Tho Rev. P. W. Clarkson (Taihape) moved:. "That the Home Mission Committee as set up at last Synod be allowed to continue in office another year." Tho motion was adopted, after some discussion. It was stated that the mission had not held one meeting during the year. THE BIBLE SOCIETY. Mr.. E. Balcombo Brown .(Wellington) , moved: "Tlut the Synod recommends the work' carried on by the British and Foreign I Bible: Society to tho attention of tho members of tho Church of England in this diocese." The Rev. J. D. Russell (Petono) seconded the' motion, which, after somo discussion, was agreed to. . MISSION OF HELP. The "following motion, proposed by tho Rev. C. C. Harper (Palmorston North) was agreed.to: "That a committee be set-up to co-operate with his Lordship tho -Bishop in making the necessary arrangements for the carrying out of the General Mission in this diocese; such committee to consist of the Rovs. T. H. Sprott, A. L. Hansel], J. A. Jacob, H. Watssn, and J. D. Russell, Messrs. G. Shirtelilfe, F. R. Russell, T. F. Martiu, W. J. Birch, J. W. Salmon,-and tho'movor'JLr ■ The mover stated that the Wellington diocese would bo required to raise £700, of which £675 was already guaranteed. CHURCH PROPERTIES. Mr. R. Wilberfoss proposed a motion' which, after a complex discussion, was adopted in tho following :form:—-"That a committee bo appointed Jl) to inquire into and consider the advisability of acquiring tho 7 whole of tho lands situate in Mulgrave Street, being part Sections' 540, 541, 542, Mulgrave Street, for the purposes of a site for a cathedral, chapter houso, and other diocesan offices. (2) To consult with the trustees of "the Cathedral Fund with the view of considering tho advisability of disposing, or otherwise dealing with, the Taranaki Street property, and to ascertain from them what sum they would ho prepared to hand over to the Diocesan Trustees for part Sections 540, 541, 542 Mulgravo Street. (3) Tho committee 1 report to tho next session of the Diocesan Synod, such committee to consist of the Right Rev. the Bishop, tho Ven. Archdeacon Fancourt, Ven. Archdeacon Towgood, the Revs. T. H. Sprott, and A. M. Johnson, Messrs. l T. F. Martin, E. B. Brown, G., Shirtcliffe, W. J. Birch, J. Martin, G. E. ; ' Tolhurst, and E. F. Tladfield."

On tho motion of Mr. ■ G. Shirtcliffe, 'it was agreed: "That, pending a definite decision bein<* como to as to how tho land in Mulgravo Street shall be dealt with, the Diocesan Trustees be authorise!, should they seo fit, consistent with the torms of the trust, to let the present Bishop's residence and to lease a more suitable house for the purpose." Mr. L, A. George (Northland) moved: "That the Diocesan Board of Trustees bo authorised, if they think fit to do so, to ask tho General Synod for leavo to transfor allotment IG, part Sections 31 and 32, Karori, D. plan 108, to tho Trustees of St. Ann's Church, Northland, for the purpose of- selling tho section, the proceeds or such sale, to bo used in liquidation of the debt oh St. Ann's, Northland." The motion was adopted. PERSONAL. The Rev. T. H. Sprott was appointed a governor of the Hadheld College Hostel. The Revs. J. A. Jacob (Hawora), C. C. Harper" (Palmerston North), 'and' T. H. Sprott "(Wellington) were appointed without opposition as clerical representatives of the diocese on the General Synod. Lay representatives wore appointed by ballot as follow:—Messrs. R. Wilberfcss (Wellington), W. J. Birch (Marten), T. F. Martin (Wellington), and J. Martin (Martinborotigh). The Synod concluded its session shortly before midnight with the usual votes : of thanks.
