Fowlds -this afternoon from the Auckland Kindorgarten Association with tho view of . getting Government assistance in providing free kindergarten teaching for tho children, of tho poor in Auckland. Mr. Brooke; Smith, the hon. secretary of the association, said they were negotiating for the engagement of, a trainer who had. graduated in one of the kindergarten- colleges, either in England or America. The expenses of securing this, director and of obtaining suitable promisee with the requisite apparatus would probably amount to between .£350 and £400 per annum, and the appeal'to the public to supply/ this would be much more fruitful if it were known, that all subscriptions would be supplemented by an equal amountfromtheGovornnent.
