THE LATE MR. W.P. JAMES

Tho remains of the lato Mr. W. P. James, Stipendiary Magistrate at Masterton, \v ill' leave that town'tor Wellington by this morning's train, arriving at 11.28 a.m. Menibers of the legal profession of Masterton v will accompany the body from the residence to the Masterton Station this 'morning. Tho fune'ral will leave the Lambton Station shortly after tho arrival of the -mail train. - (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) ' ' Mastorton, July 12. Members of tho Masteiton legal profession and justices of the peace assembled at the Courthouse this morning partly in response to a suggestion from Mr. 0. C. Graham, S.M., and partly out of a% goneral desire among tliode who have had personal knowledge of the late Mr. James, S.M., to oxpress their appreciation of the deceased and their sympathy with the family. Thcro nero present:—Messrs. C. C Graham, S.M., P. L. Hoilmgs, C. A. Pownall, O. Pragnell,' H. K. Jackson, \V. G. Board, A. R Bunny, W." G. Hand Newton, D. K. Logan, H. C. Robinßon, Coleman Phillips (Carterton), and Dr. Trimble, and the following justices of i the peace:—Messrs. E.'G. Eton, R. Brown, E. M. M'Ewan, T. Wagg, Eli Smith, M. Caselberg, W. H. Bectham, M. C. O'Connell, J. A. Pauling, and L. J. Hooper. ' > In tho course of his remarks, Mr* Graham made feeling' reference to tho deceased. Hβ i stated that tho deepest sympathy would go out to the bereaved widow, family, and relatives in their trouble, and, as a laet mark of respect, he mould adjourn tho Court. Mr. Beard, on behalf of the legal profession, tendered deepest sympathy to thebereaved family. , - Mr. Hollings spoko as Mayor of the town, Mr. Beetham on behalf of tho justices of the peace, and Mr. Foley as clerk of the Court. The coffin will be escorted to the Mastorton Railway Station by members of the legal profession: Tho members of tho profession havo also arranged for suitable wreaths to bo placed on tho coffin, when the inteiment takes place in tho Karori Cemetery.
