In connection with, the Suffragette disturbances on Juno 20 outside the Houso of Commons, fines of £5 wore imposed on Mrs. Pnnkhurst and on Mrs. Haverfield (daughter of Loid Abingor). \ Tho magistrate- advised them to appeal on a point of law respecting the right of subjects to present petitions to the Crown. The cases of tho remaining Suffragettes Vieie, postponed. HUNGER STRIKE. HOW A SUFFRAGETTE CAME OUT OF GAOL. London, July 9. One of the Suffragettes who had been sentenced to imprisonment was released prematurely because she starved 'herself for pinety-ono hours, as a protest against being placed to servo in the third division.
