Forbes, charged in connection with'stamping a receipt for £4 12a.' 1 6d., evidence showed that defendant had no stamp available when the bill was and gavS a temporary receipt) promising to / send a .proper receipt later./ The other receipt; was not sent, however^The. magistrate said that, the temporary 'document was. a receipt, and" fined defendant lOa. and costs. ; Dr.' Robert;Nairh sued. A." A. Georgo for £130, amount alleged to bo duo. on a promissory note, with interest thoreon.'. ,Dr.-.Nairn deposed that; he was the .'assignoovof certain .book debts of Aloysiuß Gorry,'. -bankrupt', which included a pro?' missory.. note for ,£IOB owing by .defendant.
