NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION., - A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand' Rugby Union was hold last evening, Sir. Geo. Dixon presiding. There were also present:—Messrs. J. Laughton, H. , , Kelly, 'W. Pevry, Geo. Lusk, R. Isaacs, N. Galbraith, V. .It.' Meredith, and J. D. Avery (secretary). ' ' ■'■A letter l received from the '. Nelson Union 6tated that tho union had been paying an old player ss. a weok for work as gatekeeper, and this man now wanted to play again.' Tho union; therefore, wished' to know whether.'ho was now a.professional or not. It was decided to reply that, if tho man played again lie would become a professional, but he could,apply for reinstatement- as an amateur. ■" ■' ;'i'he. New Zealand Referees' Association for- ■ warded a copy of a. oircular'.letter, issued by . the-, Auckland Association, pointing out certain alterations in; the laws of the game, which • have come into, force in the northern, city. , It,was decided to inform the ciation that all rulings given by the association shall be in accordance witn the laws of ; football. It was also resolved that the Auckland Union.should be written to as" follows:—: "■We understand that your local competitions are not being played in accordance with tho . laws of the. game.. Mr. Laughton thought the Hawke'e Bay Union should be asked for a copy of the. evidence..- If the language was bad, he thought a life disqualification would ■not be too. much to imposo on the offenders.
