AN AUSTRALIAN GIRL'S SUCCESS.
Many Australians will be ready to contratulate Miss Elsie Hall upon tho last onour which her talents havo won for her (says an English writer). This gifted young pianiste has just boon appointed music teacher to Princess Mary, of Wales—a future Princess' Royal. Born 'in Australia, Misg Hall's talents first secured recognition in Berlin, where sho won the Mendelssohn Stateprize 'for piano-playing. Sho was then only sixteen years old. A year later Misa Hall appeared at a concert of the Berlin Philharmonic Society. Since coining to London, Miss Hall has been fortunate in securing the • interest of many women of influonccr-tlic type of interest whioh is essential to rapid , success. The' Princess of Wales and tjio Duchess'of Argylo aro among several ladies of title who havo extended their patronage to the young Australian pianiste. Ou« would like, all the same, to know how Miss Hall really feels about the appointment, to what extent it is of advantago for an ambitious young pianisto to be Teacher to any one child, even a royal little girl. Tho music-teacher must keep very closely to her work.
