. The Esperanto class conducted >y Mr.. H. A. Epstein completed its course last '.week,, when an' examination was.held by illr. E. [C.\Hocking. "Four prizes'. were awarded, twoeach for the ladies arid.'gentlenisn.''The'first..prize in each', case : was'^a. , greenstone■'■ Esperanto star pendant, 6econd ;prize, one of Shakespeare's plays'translated into Esperanto. The following "gesamideanoj".were successful in gaining the prizes, .which were awarded on Tuesday evening:—ladies: First Miss M. Ockend«n; second, Jlissß.' Cornish." Men's: First, Master F. Cornish; second, Mr. W. J. Cornish.; The class has been very successful, several of the members already being, able to converse in the language, and, although the class is officially closed;-it will,still meet at the. residences of the members, when there will be better, opportunities forconversational* practiced The clasa will be so conducted until ■ the final arrangements' have been madejfpr.theformation of the Wellington Esperanto.'.aociety, which, will federate all the Esperanto groups existing'in Wellington, at the: Y.M.C.A., Brooklyn, Kelburne (ladies),- ' .. ■: ;■; '■■! , ..-> v,. ; ■~'
