ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
KILLED WHILE BLASTING. (By Telegraph.—Proas Association.) , ' Creymouth,. July 7. A fatal accident occurred at Blackball this afternoon whereby a young man, James Meehan, 30 years of ago, was killed. 'It appears that deceased was working at the Blackball Company's siding, blasting rocks, and was tamping a shot when it exploded, practically blowing his head off. Deceased was a single man, and resided with his parents at Blackball. SUICIDE. Chrlstchurch, July 7. A young man named Robert Woodhouso committed suicide in Cathedral Square near the old tram-sheds about 11.40 to-m'ght by shooting himself with a gun. No particulars aro.available as to tho reason for tho act. — : i. ' HORSE SLIPPED ON THE ICE. Ashburton, July 7. William Siloock "sustained a fracturo of a bone of one of his legs through being thrown from a horso, as a result of the animal slipping on ice on tho road in tho borough this morning.
