[In May, 1907, Lala Lajpat Rai (an Indian barrister) and Ajit Singh were .arrested.by the Indian Government and deported—on■:', what precise charge : is not clear. The man" published a statement'to. the effect that, it was for interference with the loyalty of tho native troops.' In, November, 1807, Lninat I{ai arid Ajit. Singh were released and allowed' to return to India; on which occasion the "Englishman" welcomed the event as an indication of better times. -In April, 1908, in the' High Court, Calcutta, Lajpat : Kai .filed-- plaints against the "Englishman" and the.
