A UNIVERSITY ELECTION.
(By Telegraph.—Press Aesoulation.) Dunedin, July 3. Unusual interest attached to the election of a representative of the graduates on the Otago University .Council. The retiring members • were ! Dr. Church mid Rev. A. Cameron, and these: were again candidates. Dr. F. C. Batchelor was also a candidate,: and this necessitated a ppll. At a meeting of undergraduatethis morning,. the question was raised as to ;Dr- Batcbelor's, eligibility, he being a lecturer at the university, and the Act says no 'professor is eligible' to represent the graduates, .After a. lively, discussion, and the putting of several abortive motions, jit was resolved that a committee be set up. to report as. to . the best means of . amending .the law dealing with" the elections. The election stands adjourned 'for .one month. .. />"■' . •
