JI-Orsan presiding. -■ A report of the. conference of referees held in Wanganul on June 21, as published iu clay's Dominion, , was discussed, and the recommendations embodied therein were approved, with the exception of two. One of the recommendations disapproved of was the suggestion that when a player rolls in the ball, his; hand should be parallel, with the ground. .< The association also disagreed with the recommendation that only one referee should he appointed for matches. The secretary was instructed' to write to the New Zealand Hdckey Eeferoes' Association, voicing the opinion of the local body,that it was desirable that two.referees be appointed for representative matches wherever possible. ' A point was raised by one of the local olubs as:follows:—An attacker takes a shot at goal. Tho goal-keeper strikes the ball away from goal, and it touches another attacker, who is on eid*. and thon rebounds into thq goal-posts. Is it a goal?— Answer: Yes, providing it is a purely accidental rebound, and the second attacker is on side. A motion brought forward by. the secretary (Mr. 8.-L. Jones) that it.be a recommendation to the Wellington Hockey' Aesociation that a delegate bo allowed to represent tho Eeferees , Aesociation, ■; and: have voting power was carried. ' '..■■■..■.."■." ; ' . ' ' '."■ • A complaint was laid by Mr. Forest regarding tho general misbehaviour of the, Karori junior team. The secretary was instructed-to write to Mr. A.' Porter, who' controlled tho first half of the game, and enbsequontly refused to continue, asking him for an explanation in writing. • • ' : ; v The' association desired that the. following point should be clearly understood 'by. all hockey players:—lf .a,team is playing, men short it will b*vo *o effect in regard to the conferring, of the off-side; rule, and this rule will be strictly onforoed in all cases. The secretary, was instructed to write to the Hockey Association, drawing attention to the bad'state of No. 2 ground, Petono. '-...; The proposal of the Wellington delegate to the Kefereej' Conference (Mr. R. L. Jones) that Mr. Burley should be the Wellington delegate to the New Zealand Hockey Referees' Association, wae. carried. ,'■■•.
